OneURISA Survey

Dear MAC URISA Member:

For more than 15 years, URISA International and its Chapters have agreed that a unified membership would be in the best interest of all URISA members. The current model of separate membership has not been serving our members or the profession well. It causes confusion for the members as to which organization they are a member and dilutes the power of the combined membership of Chapters and the International organization to influence policy or support program to benefit the GIS profession and GIS professionals. Four and a half years ago, the URISA International Board asked the Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) to review the current membership model and to develop a recommendation to create a new unified membership model which we now call OneURISA.

Based on the review and recommendation of the CAB and the OneURISA working group, the URISA International Board of Directors approved a blueprint to move toward a unified membership model. Under this unified model members of Chapters will enjoy the benefits of International Membership and the International members that currently are not supporting Chapters will start to do so.

I am writing now to ask for your assistance to help URISA understand how the OneURISA model can best serve your needs. We have initiated a survey to better understand the benefits and value you currently receive from your Chapter membership and the value of potential benefits from a unified membership model.

I encourage you to complete the on-line survey at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/oneurisa
Your opinion is critical to our ability to continue to best serve URISA members and the GIS profession. When filling out the survey, please respond that you are a member of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter.

This survey will be open until Friday, September 15 so please provide your input soon. A report on the results of the survey will be presented at the upcoming GIS-Pro conference in Jacksonville (23-26 October). A summary of the results will be provided to the Chapter Presidents for distribution to Chapter members and published in the URISA newsletter.

Thank you for taking time to help URISA improve our service to you. If you have any questions about the new OneURISA initiative or URISA in general, please feel free to contact me at tcorbin@egisassociates.com.

Best regards,
Tripp Corbin, GISP
President, URISA
